Senior Data & Analytics – T-SQL Engineer (Microsoft SQL Server), Hands-on Individual Contributor / Technical Lead

Role Summary

The Senior Data & Analytics – T-SQL Engineer will lead the design, development, and optimization of Microsoft SQL Server–based data and analytics solutions. This role requires deep expertise in T-SQL, SQL Server performance tuning, and data modeling, working closely with BI, data engineering, and application teams to deliver reliable, high-performance analytics and reporting platforms.

Key Responsibilities

SQL Server & T-SQL Engineering

• Design, develop, and optimize complex T-SQL queries, views, functions, and stored procedures on Microsoft SQL Server.
• Analyze and tune query performance using execution plans, indexing strategies, and query refactoring.
• Support high-volume analytical and reporting workloads with strong performance and reliability.

Data Modeling & Analytics Enablement

• Design and maintain fact and dimension tables to support enterprise analytics.
• Work with business stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into efficient data structures.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across analytical datasets.

Data Integration & Pipelines

• Collaborate with data integration teams (e.g., NiFi) to support data ingestion and transformations.
• Validate source-to-target mappings and transformation logic.
• Support batch and incremental data loads into SQL Server environments.

Quality, Governance & Reliability

• Implement data validation, reconciliation, and quality controls.
• Support QA, UAT, and production releases with a focus on data correctness.
• Document database objects, performance considerations, and dependencies.

Agile Collaboration & Mentorship

• Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Provide technical guidance to junior SQL developers.
• Collaborate with BI (Power BI), backend, and QA teams to ensure end-to-end delivery.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical

• 7+ years of experience working extensively with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Expert-level proficiency in T-SQL.
• Strong experience with SQL Server performance tuning, indexing, and execution plan analysis.
• Experience supporting large datasets and complex analytical queries.
• Solid understanding of transactions, isolation levels, and concurrency.
• Experience with SQL Server–based ETL/ELT processes.
• Familiarity with Git and SQL code versioning practices.

Data & Analytics

• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts (facts, dimensions, star schemas).
• Experience supporting BI and analytics platforms.
• Strong focus on data quality, reconciliation, and auditability.

Soft Skills

• Experience working with offshore teams and US stakeholders.
