QA Engineer – .NET / Backend Applications (Mid-Level), Hands-on Individual Contributor

Role Summary

The Mid-Level QA Engineer – .NET / Backend is responsible for validating the quality, reliability, and performance of .NET / C# backend services and REST APIs. This role focuses on functional, integration, and data validation testing, working closely with backend developers, front-end teams, and DevOps to ensure stable, production-ready releases in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

Backend & API Testing

• Test .NET / C# backend services and RESTful APIs for functionality, reliability, and correctness.
• Validate business logic, data processing, and error-handling scenarios.
• Perform API testing using tools such as Postman (or similar).

Integration & Data Validation

• Validate integration between backend services and Angular-based front-end applications.
• Verify database interactions, data persistence, and transaction handling.
• Execute SQL queries to validate data accuracy and integrity.

Test Design & Execution

• Create and execute test cases, test scenarios, and test data based on user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Perform functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing.
• Identify, log, track, and retest defects; collaborate with developers to ensure timely resolution.

Quality & Release Support

• Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Support QA sign-off, UAT activities, and release readiness.
• Assist in validating fixes for defects and production issues.

Required Skills & Experience

Testing & Technical Skills

• 3–5 years of experience in QA / Software Testing.
• Strong experience testing backend services and REST APIs.
• Good understanding of .NET / C# application architecture (from a testing perspective).
• Experience validating database interactions using SQL (SQL Server or similar).
• Familiarity with HTTP methods, status codes, and API error responses.
• Experience with defect tracking and test management tools.

Agile & Collaboration

• Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments.
• Ability to collaborate closely with backend developers, front-end teams, and DevOps.
• Comfortable working with offshore teams and US stakeholders.
